Mexico City is located in Central Mexico and is the capital city of Mexico. It is also one of the world's largest and most populated cities. Although it is hard to believe, downtown Mexico City has been an urban area since the twelfth century, and the city is filled with historical buildings and landmarks from almost every time period since. Mexico City is sometimes known as the City of Palaces because of the high concentration of its many stately buildings. Students who study Spanish courses in Mexico City will find plenty of activities to keep themselves busy outside of the classroom, including enjoying the Plaza de la Constitucion, often referred to as Zócalo in the Historic Downtown.
